In an interview for the magazine Rolling Stonethe Colombian artist described her collaboration with Bizarre as a liberating experience. However, she admitted that it sparked a lot of controversy, including disagreements with his former manager.
“You don’t know how relieved I felt… And I also remember my manager at the time telling me: ‘Please change the lyrics,'” the artist commented.
Despite warnings about the risks involved in publishing the song, Shakira did not give in: “Of course, (my former manager) was just trying to calculate the possible contingencies and risks, but I told her, ‘I’m an artist, I’m a woman, and I’m a wounded wolf. And no one should tell me how to lick my wounds,'” she said.
