William Mebarak, Shakira’s father, recently had to be hospitalized in Barranquilla due to pneumonia. The video was spread on social networks and shows Shakira and her brother Tonino arriving at the Barranquilla medical center to see their father. The recording was made by the hospital security guard, expressing his admiration for the singer.
Internet users who have reacted to the content opened a debate. Several believe that greeting and recording the Colombian singer when she is arriving to visit her father in the hospital is disrespectful, others understand the man’s emotion at that moment.

What happened to Shakira’s father?
William Mebarak Chadid, Shakira’s father, was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Clínica Iberoamericana due to severe pneumonia. At the beginning of June, the singer’s father suffered these health complications.
As Blu Radio learned, through a source close to Shakira’s family, given the slight improvements that the singer’s father would be showing since this Friday, they would begin to lower the patient’s sedation.
The doctors would be making this decision after William Mebarak stopped having a fever. Additionally, the source reported that since June 7, the 92-year-old apparently no longer requires support to stabilize his blood pressure.
