Abel Pintos can interpret melodies, although he has lost count of how many times he has done so, to the daily revelation of family life. The solid nucleus that he has formed with his wife Mora Calabrese and his children Guillermina and Agustín challenges him in various ways, but with the same intensity with which thousands of people sing “Motifs”, “The key”, “Eleven thousand”... Abel escapes routine, even though he has been doing the same thing for three decades.
Perhaps that is why he chose an unusual idea for the launch of his new project. The event took place in BeBop Club, an emblematic jazz space in Buenos Aires, in the heart of Palermo, on a peacefully sunny winter noon. Outside, the city pulsed with its usual rhythm, but inside the magic happened. A Abel Relaxed, but with his usual elegance, he welcomed the press and a hundred privileged fans who saw their favourite artist from a few metres away in an unprecedented way.
“It’s like back in the day when we’d get together at someone’s house to listen to a new record,” comments the singer to Teleshowwith a hint of nostalgia and a knowing wink to the audience that filled the place to see several fans in one. To the performer, who continues with his charisma intact.
In this context, the musician gave a simple acoustic version, with piano and two guitars, of “Suddenly”, the song of Soraya which he used as the spearhead of his new album, which he defines as “conceptual”. After singing about two ideas as strong as love (Amor en mi vida, 2021) and Argentina (Alta en el cielo, 2023), the new album will revolve around her role as a performer. A way to connect with her beginnings, when she still did not dare to write, and a show of gratitude to the craft that she embraced forever.
