From Barcelona, Blumar presents a new line of products and reinforces its commitment to reducing antibiotics

At the largest fair in the sector, held in Barcelona, the Chilean company had a stand where it showed its renewed brand and explained its development expectations.

Seafood Expo Global 2024, the largest fish and seafood fair in the world, took place a few days ago in Barcelona, bringing together – in its thirtieth edition – suppliers and producers. On this occasion, the event was attended by 35 thousand attendees, 2,244 exhibitors from 87 countries and 67 international pavilions.

Blumar was one of the exhibitors at the fair, welcoming people from all over the world to its stand, who learned about its commitment to quality and sustainability.

“We are presenting our Blumar retail line, with our renewed brand. We have worked on the design of all the packaging and on the definition of the products, so we are very happy to offer these products, which are already being sold in some supermarkets in Latin America. We hope to continue expanding our markets,” said the corporate commercial manager of the Salmon farming area, Daniel Montoya.

The executive added that “we are very happy with our participation in the fair. I think that of the 3 years, this has been the busiest, we have seen a lot of people, we have been visited a lot, with many meetings at our stand, with the different products that we are offering.”

Along the same lines, the general manager of Blumar, Gerardo Balbontín, stated that “presence at fairs is always an opportunity to meet with our clients, where everyone is in an environment of talking and getting to know each other. It is also an opportunity to show our development, tell them what the company is doing, what our opportunities are, so it is always very good to be present.”

For his part, the Fishing Business Manager of the Chilean company, Ignacio Mir, explained that “one of the fundamental concepts of the future, which in recent times has been gaining strength, is food security. The FAO has stated that to achieve this goal, the fishing sector is crucial. For this reason, as an industry we are called to be allies and promote our products with high nutritional value and versatility.”

Antibiotic reduction

In parallel, the CSARP+ initiative was also launched in the same Spanish city, which is the next stage of the Chilean Salmon Antibiotic Reduction Program, inaugurated in 2019. In addition to deepening the commitment in this matter , the Monterey Aquarium Bay seeks to recognize Chilean farmed Atlantic salmon companies for their concrete and consistent actions to reduce the use of antibiotics.

As explained by the general manager of Blumar, Gerardo Balbontín, “the Aquarium selected the members of CSARP+ based on a performance evaluation of the last 6 years. For Blumar, being part of this group of Chilean companies is a recognition of the company’s performance and commitment to continue working to reduce the use of antibiotics. The goal is to achieve a 50% decrease by 2025.”
