(CNN) — A body has been found in the search for missing British TV presenter Michael Mosley in Greece, a police spokeswoman said, but he needs to be formally identified.

Mosley, who gives health advice to the British media, disappeared on Wednesday after going for a walk alone on the Greek island of Symi.

The body was found this Sunday morning, according to police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou, speaking to OPEN TV. Dimoglidou said police were heading to the scene, near Agia Marina beach. The cause of death was not immediately known.

CNN contacted the UK Foreign Office.

The police, firefighters, coast guard and volunteers have been searching by land and sea for days for the doctor, who did not have his phone with him. Police were also investigating reports that he spoke to locals during his walk.

On Friday, the search operation focused on the Pedi area, where a woman reported seeing him on Wednesday. The beach where the body was found is not far from that area.

Mosley popularized a type of intermittent fasting known as the 5:2 diet, and is the author of a book on the Fast 800 Diet, which focuses on time-restricted eating to lose weight quickly. His wife, Dr. Claire Bailey, wrote a recipe book as part of “The Fast 800” book series.

The television doctor is known for British documentaries such as Channel 4’s “Michael Mosley: Who Made Britain Fat?” and the BBC’s “Trust Me, I’m A Doctor.”

The 67-year-old broadcaster has also appeared on British entertainment programs such as BBC’s “The One Show” and ITV’s “This Morning,” and is a columnist for the British newspaper Daily Mail.

In 2002 he was nominated for an Emmy Award for best non-fiction special series (informational), after producing the 2001 BBC miniseries “The Human Face”, which analyzes the science behind facial beauty, expression and Fame.

The father of four deliberately infested himself with parasites to learn more about them for the 2014 BBC program “Trust Me, I’m A Doctor.”

Mosley and his wife, who organize theater tours together, attended the literary Hay Festival in Wales last month, where he presented a special edition of his BBC Radio 4 show “Just One Thing,” according to PA Media.
