The Cardioinfantil Foundation in Bogotá announced the death of Dr. Camilo Cabrera Polanía, the founder of this health institution that has served millions of Colombians and is a specialist in cardiovascular diseases.
The foundation itself, through its social networks, confirmed the news of the death of the pioneer of cardiovascular surgery in Colombia at the age of 91.
Cabrera, in addition to being the founder of Cardioinfantil, was also emeritus director and member of the Superior Council of the foundation.
“Our heart is in mourning. With deep sadness, we inform you that Dr. Camilo Cabrera Polanía, founder, director emeritus and member of the Superior Council as well as a teacher, guide and pioneer of cardiovascular surgery in Colombia, has died at the age of 91,” reads the publication in X.
The foundation also sent a message of solidarity with the family of Dr. Cabrera, as well as rHe remembered his contribution to Colombian medicine.
“We remember with gratitude his invaluable legacy and passion for medicine, he has left a indelible mark on our institution and in the hearts of thousands of Colombians. We deeply appreciate the support and solidarity,” the foundation added.
