With deep sadness, the Faculty of Medicine sends its most sincere condolences and a fraternal hug to family, friends, former colleagues and former students who shared with the esteemed and remembered Dr. Corti.

Dr. Dante Corti Ortiz was a surgeon specializing in urology and entered the Institute of Specialties of the Austral University of Chile in 1969.

Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, among other important contributions, he was a fundamental figure in the teaching and research of the Specialization in Urology, being the creator of the Urology Postgraduate Training Program at the UACh, where to date 42 urologists have been trained. Chileans and foreigners, developing this area in Valdivia as Head of the Urology Service of the Valdivia Base Hospital.

In addition, he was one of the promoters of the Kidney Transplant Program (today with more than 500 patients benefiting), promoting cutting-edge therapies in urological cancer and supporting the arrival of new technologies to his team, being identified as a teacher and trainer of various generations of medical professionals.

Likewise, he was a founding member for almost 40 years of the Southern Branch of the Chilean Society of Urology and was named Master of Chilean Urology.

From the Universidad Austral de Chile and its Faculty of Medicine, we accompany in pain all those who were part of Dr. Corti’s life.
