Through an online conference and with the participation of institutional authorities, academics, students and the core of the program, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Agronomy (FAVA) closed the socialization process of the self-assessment report of the Master One Health – A health of UDLA, with a view to the first accreditation process it faces.

The final report of the process, which was prepared with the collaboration of academics, students and graduates, includes an exhaustive analysis of the program’s strengths, as well as the areas in which opportunities for improvement are identified. Recommendations are also included with the aim of further enhancing the academic quality and excellence of the Master’s Degree.

“The self-evaluation of the One Health Master – Una Salud is part of the continuous improvement process that the program and the University have. This process began in 2023, where an exhaustive review of all the procedures, mechanisms and indicators of the program was carried out, with the purpose of detecting strengths and opportunities for improvement,” explained Marcela Fresno, director of the program.

The purpose of the dissemination of this report was to make known in detail the work carried out on the processes and mechanisms that allow the continuous improvement of the Master’s degree. In this regard, the Vice Chancellor of Quality Assurance and Institutional Analysis of UDLA, Edgar Mercado, maintained that “this process is key when it comes to making known the main results of the self-assessment report, where the different actors who participated in this protocol , whether in conferences, surveys or focus groups, can visualize the conclusions that were derived from said activities.”

Obtain the accreditation of the One Health Master – Una Salud provides a quality certification for its programs, guaranteeing that they meet standards and purposes, and the provision of competent academic staff, procedures and adequate mechanisms to carry out their academic objective.

Regarding this, the Dean of FAVA, Lorena Jofré, mentioned that “achieving Master’s accreditation provides multiple benefits, such as guaranteeing recognition and compliance with quality standards, improving the prestige of the program; promote a culture of continuous improvement through periodic evaluations and recommendations, ensuring that the program remains up to date; facilitate access to financing and scholarships, benefiting both the University and the students.” Finally, the academic authority stressed that this process generally strengthens the institution by promoting more efficient management that is aligned with its strategic objectives.
