The Port Authority of Vilagarcía approved, in an ordinary session of its Board of Directors, the annual accounts corresponding to the financial year 2023, with the favorable report of the General Intervention of the State Administration. The result was positive, with a profit of USD 502,558. The turnover was USD 6,258,659, the second largest in the history of the Arousan port, only behind that of 2022. Of this amount, USD 5.78 million corresponded to port taxes, highlighting the increase in revenues from the occupancy and merchandise rate.
On the other hand, the Council also approved the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Galician Tourism Agency and the Port Authority for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the maritime station at the Passenger Dock within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union-Next Generation EU.
The President also informed the Council about the progress of the traffic of the Port Authority of Vilagarcía. With just a couple of days left until the end of June, the first half of the year is expected to exceed 700,000 tonnes. The good figures in the general merchandise category stand out, with a provisional total for the January-June period of 372,863 tonnes, more than half of all the goods moved through the port. The overall percentage increase in this category, compared to 2023, is 5.5%.
In the case of solid bulk, after the large increase experienced last year, the figures are back to being more in line with the immediately preceding years, with the provisional figure being 191,659 tonnes. For its part, liquid bulk closed the semester consolidating its figures from the same period of the previous year. The total tonnes moved in this category was 138,479.
