Netflix is ​​finalizing negotiations for a new series of Scooby-Doo live action, a project that promises to bring the famous Mystery Inc. gang into the streaming era. Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg lead this creative effort alongside André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner, under the Midnight Radio banner, while Berlanti Productions, associated with Warner Bros. Television, will participate in the executive production, with figures such as Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman. Jonathan Gabay and Adrienne Erickson join as co-executive producers, which predicts a high-caliber production team for the return of these iconic characters.

The series, which has not yet revealed details about its plot, is part of a long tradition of adaptations of Scooby Doowhich began with the original cartoon series in the late ’60s. Over the years, Scooby-Doo has experienced multiple facets, from movies to real action that captured the public imagination, such as Scooby Doo released in 2002 starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini in the roles of Fred, Daphne, Shaggy and with Neil Fanning as the voice of the dog. Due to the success of this installment, its sequel came called Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed in 2004 with the same cast, to various animated versions and special projects, including direct releases to television and digital platforms.

Scooby-Doo is a fictional character who first appeared in 1969 in the animated television series Scooby Doo Where Are You?created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for Hanna-Barbera Productions. Scooby-Doo is a talking Great Dane who is accompanied by four teenagers: Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley and Shaggy Rogers. Together, they form the Mystery Order group and travel in their van, the Mystery Machine, solving mysteries involving ghosts and other supernatural beings. Over the years, the Scooby-Doo franchise has included numerous television series, films, comics and games, becoming a pop culture icon and a beloved character for generations.

The success of the franchise in cinema, with films that grossed hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office, demonstrates the validity and affection of the public towards these characters. The most remembered adaptation is undoubtedly the 2002 filmwhich along with its sequel, combined a strong cast with elements of comedy and mystery, attracting both new fans and long-time followers of the series.
