The ‘Royal Flush’ tour of heart is leading to Ann and Nancy Wilson on the road through some of the great American programs. After Jimmy Fallon and Howard Stern, it was time for ‘Kelly Clarkson Show’. A program in which the presenter herself did not hesitate to start singing one of the band’s most legendary songs.
“CRAZY ON YOU”
During the program, the presenter started singing a short version of “Crazy on You”, the first single from Heart. A legendary topic, of which Ann Wilson explained the origins.
“That was the first song I recorded as a singer in a studio. You were talking about feeling, and that’s what I had. Still I didn’t have much technique or anything, but I definitely felt how to say certain wordshow to jump early sometimes, how ‘blue note’ things… I just felt that kind of thing.”Ann commented.
“BARRACUDA”
Ann Wilson also recounted the origins of another Heart classic, “Barracuda”. It’s a story he’s told many times before, but this time with an added detail: the sleazy record company man who inspired the lyrics was wearing a pornographic wristwatch.
“We were in Detroit supporting The Kinks. At that time, after a concert, especially if you were a new band like us, the dressing room was filled with people from the industry. Lots of satin jackets. And they could be quite sordid.”he began detailing.
“And there is a particular guy who had this pornographic watch – like one of those watches that if you move your hand, it will do something sexy. Mischievous. And she asked me, ‘Annie, how is your lover?’ And I said, ‘Oh, Michael’s fine. He’s right there.’ Because she was with Michael Fisher at the time. And he said, ‘No, your sister. Your sister, your lover’”Wilson added.
“It was like, if there are two girls it has to be sexy, you know? I get angry a lot. I went back to the hotel and wrote the lyrics to Barracuda“he ended up sentencing.
The ‘Royal Flush’ tour by Heart runs through September 22 in Morrison, Colorado. In the middle of the US tour, in which they will be accompanied by Cheap Trick, the band will travel to Europe and the United Kingdom for summer concerts. These are the dates of the ‘Royal Flush 2024’ tour:
