“You will stop being idolized celebrities, you will become angry gods”. The first trailer for the new season of The Boysone of the star series of Amazon Prime Video, could not have left more iconic moments. After a third season to remember, the platform has put all its effort into a new installment. And never better said, because if anything its first preview shows, it is flesh and blood.
In this trailer we meet again with some of the illustrious characters of the series such as Patriot (Anthony Starr), Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) but above all Billy the Butcher (Karl Urban), who seems ready to put an end to Vought’s superheroes once and for all. To do this, The Boys team will contact a mysterious figure he brings to life. Jeffrey Dean Morgan -the mythical Negan The Walking Dead-, who is developing a virus lethal to superheroes. Starlight, still a Vought creation, says it is a desperate and suicidal measure. But you know what they say, desperate situations require desperate measures.

For those who don’t remember, the end of season 3 left us again with an open war between the team of Billy, Hugie, Frenchie and company against Vought, after having had a powerful weapon in their favor as Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). In an unexpected turn of events, we learned that Soldier Boy was actually Patriota’s father, and therefore also Patriot’s grandfather. Ryan (Cameron Crovetti).
When Soldier Boy revealed his evil nature and got out of control, everyone collaborated to stop him even if it meant saving Patriot’s life as well. Finally it was Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) who gave his life to end Solider Boy, although in the end it was revealed that he had only faked his death so he could continue his life away from Vought. In the last scene of the series we could see Patriot already established as the absolute leader of Vought and Ryan also beginning to show violent behavior, which ended the life of a civilian but without apparent consequences.
In addition to the aforementioned Jeffrey Dean Morgan, in the trailer we have been able to see other new faces and some old acquaintances. They will become part of the Seven people like Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) either Firecracker (Valorie Curry), while we have been able to see a familiar face like that of Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips)the character of the spin-off series Gene V, in which she gave life to a telepath with a dark side. But Dunlap is not the only unexpected character who has been seen in the preview.
Perhaps the most interesting thing that the first look at the fourth season has left and also that has raised the most speculation has been the presence of Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), the silent superhero who tragically died at the hands of Patriot after he learned that Noir knew that Soldier Boy was Patriot’s biological father. The return of this character raises many unknowns, especially knowing that he is an indispensable character in the original comics – revealing himself to be a clone of the Patriot himself and the only one capable of ending him – for the outcome. We will have to wait until next time June 13th to resolve all these issues and many more, but everything indicates that the fourth season of the series will be even more epic than the previous one, if possible.
