Today is the most important night in fashion. The MET Gala red carpet 2024 is officially underway at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s exhibition, which has as its theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashionexamines how technology can give new life to overly old and fragile garments.
Tonight, guests will climb the museum’s famous staircase with dresses and suits that nod to the dress code of the event, Garden of Timeand you, exclusively, will be able to see all the looks right here, while all the guests arrive at the MET Gala 2024 red carpet.
The evening’s theme takes its name from a story by JG Ballard about a count who, to prevent an angry mob from approaching his castle, cuts a rose from his garden to slow down time until there are no flowers left. And with the dystopian background of this story and the emphasis on the union between old and new, we can expect a Red carpet full of all kinds of garments, from looks with flowers, to technologically inspired fashion, and even the occasional reference to Sleeping Beauty.
The gala, which raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute, is known for having a very select guest list. But although the names of the attendees are kept secret, we know of some people who will grace the carpet in their best outfits: Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez and Zendayawill be co-hosts with Anna WintourGlobal Editorial Director of Condé Nast.
The rest of the attendees, among whom are the best singers, actors, models, athletes and artists of the moment, will arrive as the hours go by.
