Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt, The Killers guitarist Dave Keuning and Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkinsthey will be teachers and will teach you all their secrets in the Los Angeles Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp. People of all ages and levels can sign up. (via Louder Sound)
Those who go to the camp will be able to spend four days accompanied by these artists, who will teach them how to interpret songs such as “Basket Case,” “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” “Mr. Brightside”, “Somebody Told Me”, “Been Caught Stealing” or “Jane Says”. The best of all is that, once learned, students will have the opportunity to play in famous clubs Whiskey a Go-Go and The Viper Room on the Sunset Strip.
This is the 28th year that this camp will be held, which will take place from October 17 to 20. Before the event begins, those who attend can speak with the camp director to be assigned a group. A list of selected songs will be distributed before rehearsals, and before the camp begins, attendees will contact their tutor, one of the aforementioned stars, and their bandmates to prepare for their classes.
Again, it doesn’t matter what level or age you are or what instrument you play – even if you sing – because anyone can sign up.
They have previously passed through the camp Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) and Robert and Dean DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots). This year, in addition, the camp will feature Mike Kroeger (Nickelback), Monte Pittman (Madonna, Ministry), Johnny Martin (LA Guns), Jeff Friedl (Devo, A Perfect Circle), Adam Kury (Candlebox), Rafa Moreira (Paul Stanley), Jennifer Oberle (Five for Fighting, Sarah McLachlan) or Tommy Black (Scott Weiland).
During the four days of camp, you will be able to rehearse, do improvisation sessions, master classes, question and answer sessions or, as we told you, also live performances.
