Efrain Aguilar, recognized for being the creator of ‘At the bottom there is room’ (AFHS)has surprised by announcing his new play, ‘The house is respected’. This title has a special meaning, since it was originally going to be the name of the popular América TV series before being changed to the current one.
Aguilar, who drove the initial success of AFHS, but left the direction after the eighth season, has been one of the harshest critics of the changes that have been made to the series in its new stage, now under the direction of Gigio Aranda.
The producer and director thus surprised his followers by announcing in social networks the production of ‘The house is respected’. Furthermore, in promoting his new project, Aguilar released a poster of the work, where he included a message that did not go unnoticed: “Deep down it is not the same.”
This phrase has a clear dose of discontent with the current AFHS plot, evidencing his dissatisfaction with the path that Aranda has taken in the production that Aguilar elevated to stardom. The poster also shows a portrait of Aguilar, the same one that appears in the Gonzales house, in a nod to the fans of the series.
For now, ‘The House is Respected’ does not have a specific release date, but it is expected to debut shortly. With this new production, the former director seeks to recapture the old AFHS fans, inviting them to enjoy a fresh proposal in the theater. From the ninth season of the series, it was Gigio Aranda who took over the direction of ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’. It continues to lead the ratings in its time slot, but it is no longer under the control of its founder and initial director, Efraín Aguilar.
In a last interview for Infobae Peru, Aguilar announced the reasons why he did not resume his role in the new 2022 season, despite the return of the popular program on América TV. To do this, he shared details about the creation and evolution of the show, as well as memorable moments experienced by the cast.
The producer explained that his decision not to return was based on business issues. “They were business issues. We were in a rented place and the owner was going to sell it, we had to go somewhere else. We were already eight years old, who guaranteed us that success would be the same? It was difficult,” said Aguilar.
Likewise, he commented on his reaction to the announcement of the new season. “Gigio Aranda presented a project in which I was not involved. They made the second part, in which, tangentially, they told me that I could be there”, said. This situation reflects a distancing in the creative vision between Aguilar and the current team.
The producer also shared his perspective on the changes he would implement if he were in charge of production in this new phase of the series. “I would have looked for the creativity of new characters, making them have the age and age problems that someone has after eight years”, he said and added: “I reiterate that he (Gigio Aranda) is an export screenwriter (…). I would have liked the actors to have guidance on how to evolve a character (…). Some actors have that intention, of wanting to be funny. I have never liked that,” he stated.
