The Joropo al Parque Festival, which will take place on June 15 and 16 in the Plaza de Bolívar, will begin the festival season, as announced by the District Institute of the Arts (Idartes).

In its third edition, the festival will focus on the ‘Work Songs of the Llanos’, recognized by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017. The event will feature the participation of thirteen dance companies, fifteen musical artists and eight groups selected through a district call.

María Claudia Parias, director of Idartes, pointed out that the special programming will highlight representative elements of the llanera culture, such as the relationship of the joropo with the natural environment and the traditions of the Orinoquía region.

Besides, An opening gala will be held at the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Theater on Friday, June 14, with the participation of the Latin Grammy winner, Cholo Valderramaand the Meta Academia Cabrestero dance group.

The festival will begin on Saturday, June 15 at 12:00 pm, with presentations by artists such as Carlos Sarmiento, Pío Abril, América Reyand Milena Benites, the most recognized female voice of llanero folklore.

While on Sunday, June 16, from 2:00 pm there will be presentations Laguna Brava Ensemble, Óscar Curvelo and other cattle singers, with the closing of the renowned Aries Vigoth, who will be able to sing hits like Predestination and A beautiful little house for you.

Additionally, the third Llanódromo will be held on June 16, starting at 10:00 am, with a parade along the Séptima race that will include choreographies from national companies such as Grupo Cabalgando and Alpargata, as well as a special tribute to the llanera dances.

Along with all this, the event will include an art and entrepreneurship zone, in collaboration with the District Secretariat of Economic Development, to promote local entrepreneurs in categories such as fashion, jewelry and crafts.

Meanwhile, The Capital channel will broadcast the festival live across multiple platforms, which will begin on Saturday from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm through the television screen, the website and its YouTube and Facebook channels. On Sunday the broadcast starts at 2:30 pm, via streaming and digital channels, and from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm on the open signal.

With this type of activities, the Joropo al Parque 2024 Festival hopes to continue promoting and exalting the llanera culture in Bogotá, offering a free, high-quality cultural space for all citizens.
