More than a decade later, it has happened. Iggy Pop has dusted off some of the successes of the Stooges at a recent concert. La Iguana played these songs live with some friends like Nick Zinner, Matt Sweeney and others members of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
All this happened a few days ago, during his participation in the ‘No Values Festival’ Of California. There, Iggy Pop brought together an all-star band to play some old classics after a long time.
Furthermore, this show was his first of 2024. In fact, it was his first since he finished the tour cycle for his 2023 album ‘Every Loser’. The legends of punk Iggy Pop and Siouxie Sioux They have teamed up to record again “The Passenger“, classic of ‘Lust for Life’ (1977)but not to release it on a record, but to sell you ice cream from a popular brand.
This collaboration is also the first recording that Sioux has made in nine years. And the brand? As you can imagine, it is the ice cream giant Magnum.

About this collaboration, Pop states the following: “Siouxsie can sing like a bird. She’s always seemed like a great woman to me. Her version of the song (ed: part of the covers album ‘Through The Looking Glass’ from 1987) was already special, but what happened here, singing together , is truly unique. As in ‘Volare’, the orchestral treatment and the union of voices fly freely, in a spirit of joy.”
“I love this song and I’ve always loved Iggy’s voice.”, adds Siouxsie. ““I love how instinctive and spontaneous everything is and hearing my voice with Iggy’s is a dream.”
And the advertising website Shots has also spoken, stating: “Creating a sonic experience that transcends time, the combined vocals of the godfather of punk and the formidable Siouxsie Sioux make for a haunting melody that lends itself perfectly to the magical TVC.”
