During the feature film there are several scenes that cause emotion in viewers, and one of them corresponds to the moment when Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose are on the bow of the RMS Titanic and kiss for the first time.
But according to Winslet, filming that scene was not as magical as it looks on screen.
In a recent interview with the magazine Vanity Fairthe 48-year-old actress relived the emblematic moment she starred in with DiCaprio and did not hesitate to share what happened in the recordings.
“Oh my God. “This is really embarrassing,” It began by telling the story of the moment when Jack and Rose are just on the bow of the famous ship.
As the interpreter suggested, there were several factors that made the filming complex and one of them was the period clothing that she had to wear. “I look at the scene and wonder how I was able to breathe with that tight corset,” she joked.
Because the scene required very specific lighting conditions, the moment in which the couple is on the railing had to be recorded several times. “It was a nightmare to record this, because Leo couldn’t stop laughing (..) the sunsets kept changing where we were,” she said.
However, the makeup was perhaps the most chaotic. “Leo looks completely natural, but there is a lot of fake tan makeup,” the actress explained.
She had to hide the instruments to touch up her makeup and that of her co-star among her own clothes, since the entire shoot occurred in an area inaccessible to the team in that area.
“My God, it’s all romantic isn’t it? No wonder all the young girls wanted to kiss Leonardo DiCaprio.”Winslet joked, later adding that “not everything was as it seems.”
The actress also expressed that every time they kissed DiCaprio, his makeup was spilling on his face, which was quickly noticeable in her having to wear paler makeup. “I had to go over it between takes because I ended up looking like I’d been sucking on a caramel chocolate bar after every take. Oh my God, it was a disaster,” she argued.
