The former police officer who would be behind the death of Dr. Velásquez and his girlfriend in Envigado

The Attorney General’s Office unraveled the murders of Astrid Sofía Riascos Valdez and Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco, a famous reggaeton producer from Medellín, and managed to get a judge to send the main suspect to jail.

This is Julián Alberto Quintero Agudelowho acknowledged responsibility for the double crime in two interviews provided to the prosecution body, but removed himself from responsibilities in the middle of the first hearings.

SEMANA learned that this man was a member of the National Police in 1997. And, at the time the events occurred, he was working as the butler of the artist’s estate and his right-hand man.

He earned the trust of Velásquez Franco because he was the uncle of his former romantic partner, with whom he had two children. Apparently, this was essential for the alleged murderer to rub shoulders privately with the family.

The Prosecutor’s hypothesis, reaffirmed by the butler, is that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 8, when the two were sharing the property’s gambling room.

This is how it was described in a press release from the prosecution body: “He shot him after sharing and consuming liquor, and an exchange of insulting words occurred over a family matter.” The artist was hit in the head.

Minutes later, the worker would have gone to the room where the woman was resting and repeated the same scene. She was found lying, wrapped in a sheet and in a pool of blood.

In addition to the testimonies he provided, there is other evidence in the possession of the Prosecutor’s Office: “During the urgent acts carried out at the scene of the double crime, Quintero Agudelo handed over two pistols at the time.”

One of them would be the one used to cause their death, a nine millimeter, whose internal elements coincide with those found inside the corpses by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.

Although he was unaware of his responsibility in the events, a judge found sufficient elements to deprive him of his liberty while the investigations for alleged aggravated homicide and illegal possession of firearms progress.

Blessd also spoke, the reggaeton singer who took flight in recent years in the city of Medellín and who enjoyed part of that success with Daniel Alejando, but who in recent weeks had moved away from their work projects.

“What tragic news I just saw. A lot of growth and experience. Regardless of having broken our working ties, this leaves me shocked. Peace on your grave, Dr. Velásquez. What a strong situation,” Blessd said.
