Acclaimed musician Sir Paul McCartney celebrates 82 years of life this June 18, and among the emotional congratulatory messages from his loved ones and fans, a moving tribute from Julian Lennonson of his deceased bandmate John Lennon.

Julian, musician and photographer, is the eldest son of John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia. Despite the personal conflicts that marked his father’s life and the divorce that broke his family when he was only 3 years old, Julian has maintained a close and affectionate relationship with his “Uncle Paul,” as he calls it. calls affectionately.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), the artist shared a montage of photographs from his childhood with McCartney. The images portray them sitting on the grass, or playing on the seashore. In the description of the clip, the young man wrote: “Happy birthday, Uncle Paul! Just love… Jude”.

The followers reacted with emotion to the tribute, especially because of the reference to “Hey Jude.”the emblematic song by The Beatles that is directly related to the bitter moment experienced by Julian Lennon and the separation of his parents.

Written by Paul MCCARTNEY and credited to the famous Lennon-McCartney collaboration, the song was conceived in 1968, after John left Cynthia to start a relationship with Yoko Ono. In an episode of the special program “Paul McCartney: A Life in Lyrics” on iHeartRadio, the singer-songwriter revealed that this piece was written to cheer up little Julian, whom he called Jules.

“In my mind I was thinking ‘Hey Jules, don’t do it wrong. I know it’s hard for you, but ‘take a sad song and make it better.’ Your dad left you, so he was trying to cheer you up. It was an encouraging song. Remember to let love enter your heart and it will improve it,” the musician recalled.

The song went from being a personal message to a universal anthem of strength and hope; although Julian himself admitted at one point that he felt a kind of love-hate towards “Hey Jude”.

“I’m grateful for the song, without a doubt. But… the other real thing that people don’t really understand is that (the song is) a raw and dark reminder of what really happened,” he said in September 2023 in a program hosted by Bill Maher.

However, as a curious fact, Julian has in his possession the original annotations of the original recording. He bought them at auction with a value of 25 thousand pounds sterling.

In addition to Julian, Paul MCCARTNEY received warm birthday greetings from his own children. Mary McCartney, a renowned photographer, sent a message on Instagram, including photos of her father with rocker Bruce Springsteen and another of McCartney playing the drums. “Happy Birthday Dad. All my Love”Mary wrote in her post.

The businesswoman continued: “I have you so close in my heart, that I feel that you are with me every moment of every day., in my soul and inspiring me to be the best person I can be. “You have always been 100 percent true to yourself, persistent in changing the planet for the better, creating from the heart and leaving a true mark on history.”
