In a recent interview with Stereogum, Duff mckaganthe bassist of Guns N’ Rosesreiterated a statement that has raised controversy: the famous fictional Duff beerfrom the animated series The Simpsons, was named in his honor.

According to McKagan, in 1988 or 1989, representatives of a “new animated series” contacted him for permission to use his name because of his reputation as a “heavy drinker”.

The musician detailed: “I was Duff, the King of Beers. But this is 1988, 1989 and our management […] “They called me and said some kind of home art cartoon wanted to use my name.”

Jay Kogenproducer and screenwriter of The Simpsoncategorically denied this version in statements to TMZ. Kogen explained that Duff It was named so because “It is a synonym for butt, little butt, butt”.

According to Kogen, there is no connection with the musician. “It’s very strange that this Duff McKagan guy wants to take credit for Duff beer… It had nothing to do with it. Duff is a beer for people who sit on their fat asses all day.”

Duff mckagan maintains his story since the publication of his autobiography It’s So Easy And Other Lies in 2011, where he first mentioned his alleged contribution to the origin of the beer’s name Duff.
