Pokémon TCG player ate a card from his rival to win in a tournament, and lost anyway

In general, card tournaments are a place where players demonstrate their skills and the power of their decks. But also, in this world of competitions there are countless ways to cheat, being a fan of Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) who took deception to a whole new level, stunning his competitors by eating a card.

The setting was a local Pokémon card game tournament, known as League Cupwhere players have the opportunity to accumulate points to qualify for the prestigious Pokémon World Championship.

To ensure the balance of forces in these tournaments, specific rules are established, including that participants must present a list of their deck before starting the game.

The deck is reviewed by the judges and if it is found to have errors, such as a missing card, the player may be penalized with defeat.

This is how in a League Cup at the end of last year, Tarreo confirmed, a player decided to take extreme measures to ensure his victory. According to a tournament participant on the social network Twitter/X, “Someone in this tournament simply ate his opponent’s Nirgendwo-Sauger (a game card) and called a judge to review the deck.”

All of this was revealed when the suspicious player called the judges to review his opponent’s deck, hoping to find an incorrect card.

While the judges deliberated, the player took the initiative and ate the letter of his rival in question taking advantage of the distractions of the referees. He then again asked for a review of the opponent’s deck, which was now, indeed, incomplete.

However, his plan was not successful.

He apparently digested the cardboard to prevent the judges from seeing the card, as another player commented on Twitter/X: “If he hid the card in his pocket, the judges could simply check his pockets for the missing one. But if he ate it, where is the proof? “Who would be crazy enough to do that?”

Despite the peculiar incident, the game was played regularly. The cheating player, despite his bold action, lost the round, and his conduct was not pursued beyond the incident.

According to another social network user, “the judges probably thought that the constipation that this player will suffer will be enough punishment.”

The post quickly generated interest from other players, including some who say: “Ok, did this really happen? If so, this might be the funniest way to cheat you’ve ever heard of,” while another says, “This wasn’t recorded or anything, I want to see this shit.”

Finally, Jared Burgon himself, the victim of the unusual act, confirmed the veracity of the facts saying that “it is true,” leaving a screenshot of an alleged message from the cheater acknowledging that he ate the letter.
