The spanish royal house has taken an important step on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the proclamation of Felipe VI. After the commemoration events of this first decade of reign, the royal family premiered this Thursday, June 20, its official profile on Instagrama modernization movement with which the institution follows the path of other European monarchies.

The official Casa Real account has begun its journey on Instagram with two posts about the events that the kings and their daughters participated in this Wednesday. The first publication contains several photographs of the daywith the appearance of Felipe, Letizia, Leonor and Sofía on the balcony of the Royal Palace in the morning, the visit of the Infanta and the Princess to the Gallery of the Royal Collections or the attendance of the royal family at the concert by the violinist Ara Malikian in the Royal Palace.

“A decade later, we renew our commitment to the defense of constitutional values and to the service of the Spanish people; That has been, is and always will be our duty. Thank you all for joining us on such a special day,” reads the description of that first post.

For its part, in the second publication, the Zarzuela communication team shares a compilation video of the day in which it sounds Heart Capriccio for L&F 10the composition created by the aforementioned violinist of Armenian origin for the 10th anniversary of the proclamation.

But the most striking thing about this virtual debut is found in the featured stories on the Casa Real profile. And each of the members of the royal family has their ‘personal circle’, a section in which they have decided include Queen Sofia. With this nod, the institution recognizes the role that the emerita plays in the Crown’s events, thus normalizing her presence in the official agenda of Zarzuela.

The one who does not appear in this account is King Juan Carlos. The emeritus is totally disconnected from the institution since his abdication in 2014 and his subsequent departure to Abu Dhabi. In fact, the Royal House decided that neither he nor Queen Sofia would be at the events for the 10th anniversary of the proclamation of Felipe VI, thus putting the focus on the current monarch despite the fact that his parents did go out on the balcony of the Royal Palace 10 years ago. years, when the new king was proclaimed.

The jump of the Spanish royal family to the social photo network was a highly demanded step for the modernization of the image of the monarchical institution. In fact, a few days ago the communication and protocol expert Diana Rubio expressed to Infobae Spain the importance of this movement: “The Royal House needs social networks, It is missing that its members can have their official networks like other princes and princesses of other monarchies do. “That would help to make ourselves known to young people and to make communication more in line with this century, showing a closer and more current image.”

With its premiere on Instagram, the Spanish royal house is on par with other European monarchies such as the British, Norwegian or Swedish. In fact, even the Japanese imperial house launched its own official profile on this social network at the end of March to make visible the work of Emperor Naruhito and his family.
