the action thriller that sweeps the platform straight to the TOP1

We are facing another of those immediate launches that become a resounding success on the part of Netflix. Sometimes, it includes curious cases, such as the psychological thriller that sweeps Netflix 17 years after its release in theaters or the most viewed film on Netflix that premiered with 0% positive reviews.

Other times, however, you see it coming. Normally, having a well-known cast is more than enough to be among the most viewed films on Netflix. There we have Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence with ‘Don’t Look Up’, Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds with ‘Red Alert’ or Sandra Bullock with the thriller ‘In the Blind’.

Now we have ‘Detonantes’, the action thriller starring Jessica Alba, Mark Webber (‘Green Room’) and Anthony Michael Hall (‘Halloween Kills’), which has entered the red platform like a real storm, placing itself in the TOP1.

And if something sells more than having a big star as the headliner, it is telling a story that revolves around revenge. We don’t have to go far because, in addition to this film, among the ten most viewed films on Netflix we have ‘Revenge Night’, the remake of the 2011 French film ‘Nuit blanche’ starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan; ‘Revenge’, the first installment of the trilogy by Liam Neeson; and ‘Jason Bourne’, Matt Damon’s fourth installment in which his character seeks…revenge.

In this intense thriller directed by Mouly Surya (‘Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts’), Alba plays a special forces soldier who, after returning home in search of answers about her father’s death, discovers a dangerous conspiracy.

After a season more focused on her role as a businesswoman, although with some specific work such as the series ‘LA’s Finest: Los Angeles Police’, ‘Detonantes’ marks the great return of Alba after living a time of splendor more than twenty years ago with the series ‘Dark Angel’ and with her role in ‘Sin City’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ and its sequel, where she played Sue Storm. Two films that, as many remember, are very far from reaching that juicy list of the best superhero films in history.

Although ‘Detonantes’ is still a typical action film with a plot seen ad nauseum, Alba’s charisma manages to keep afloat an entertaining film for a hot summer afternoon in which the excellent doses of action stand out.
