Insecurity, the main problem that Bucaramanga has at the moment: Invamer Poll survey

Within the framework of the first 100 days of the mayors’ administration in Colombia, the polling firm Invamer Poll has published the results of a survey that reveals the perception of citizens regarding the performance of the leaders of the main cities of the country and the main issues that they must resolve.

According to the survey revealed this Wednesday, April 17, 51.4% of the citizens consulted point out that insecurity is the main problem that Bucaramanga has at the moment. It is followed, with 15.3%, by unemployment. Corruption is in third place with 5.9%. The cost of living, at 4.2%, is in fourth place.

The survey also revealed that the 58.9% of citizens surveyed feel unsafe, compared to 26.7% who say they feel safe. 14.4% of those surveyed indicate that they feel very insecure.

Invamer Poll also asked citizens if they have been victims of insecurity. 18% indicated that they have been victims of personal theft, dropping by four points to the figures revealed in September 2023.

A relevant piece of information is the analysis of the perception of the city’s direction: in February, 29% of those surveyed thought that things were improving, a figure that has increased to 40% in this April survey. However, a considerable 48% believe that the situation is getting worse.

A significant aspect is the comparison with the management of the previous mayor, Juan Carlos Cárdenas, who four years ago in April obtained an approval of 52%, which indicates that Jaime Andrés Beltrán significantly exceeds this index with his 71% approval.
