Cucuta

In five days and after monitoring several videos and the information provided by witnesses at the place where the murder of citizen observer and lawyer Jaime Vásquez occurred, the authorities began to outline the investigation into the alleged hitman.

Last Tuesday it was established that he left the city of Cúcuta and moved to the Kennedy neighborhood of Bucaramanga and the police and prosecutor’s investigators designated for the case arrived there.

“There are already videos, there are already photos and progress is being made in the investigation. I am sure that we are going to give results to the people of Cucuta during this week,” said the mayor of Cúcuta Jorge Acevedo last Monday, April 15.

The man, whom the authorities point out as the person who would be involved in ending the life of the social leader, managed to make a move because he planned to stay in that city.

What the alleged murderer did not tell was that from the moment of the crime all actions were taken to determine where he was hiding and who would hide him for some time. With technical support of calls, trips and his disability, traceability was made to reach his brother’s house and they managed to capture him.

Relatives of Jaime Vásquez were grateful for the capture of this man. However, they say they fear for his life.

“For me it is positive that the Prosecutor’s Office acted so quickly and they will capture this criminal. But the tension continues, we are all definitely very tense, because we don’t know what could happen and since we don’t know who the intellectual authors are, because there must be that, indisputably,” Ramiro Vásquez, Jaime’s brother, told Caracol Radio.

The authorities have not yet commented. Today the legalization of his capture is expected to establish his judicial situation after being transferred from Bucaramanga where he was captured, to the city of Cúcuta, where a strong security operation was established. The man, who would be known by the alias “Cojo”, was transported in a Police tank from the Camilo Daza airport, to the Metropolitan Police facilities and later to the Prosecutor’s Office bunker.

The investigation not only seeks to reach the material author but also the intellectual, taking into account the work carried out by Jaime Vásquez in the fight against corruption from different government entities.
