The competition calendar for cabin sailboats of the Regatas Corrientes opened with resounding success in 2024. On Sunday the competition that united Paso de la Patria with Corrientes took place.
The contest was attended by 16 boats from the organized club and others from the local Yatch Club. As is customary, on Saturday the crews left for Paso de la Patria and spent the night in said town, where they took the opportunity to share a captains’ dinner with the camaraderie that this sport represents.
For the competition it was decided to divide into two categories, PHRF regatta, where the fastest boats and prepared for this type of competition were, and then PHRF club, which included the other boats. Each one, in turn, presented different series. In the case of the first category, there were two series, while in the second there were three.
The start to the beach of the Regatas club, where the finish line was located, was at 9 am, and the wind accompanied the competitors who were able to complete the competition in very good time.
The first to cross the finish line was Carayá from YCC, who won the blue ribbon award and was also the winner of Series A in the PHRF Regata. Very close, Luis Pozzer’s Tachycardia appeared, who crossed the finish line less than a minute later.
But the novelty occurred in the PHRF club category, in which the Regatas Corrientes training boat, Don Osvaldo (a boat donated by Osvaldo Pinzetta’s family), was the fastest. Said boat was captained by Adrián Montiel, an instructor at the optimist school, and as crew members it had some of his optimist students who ran a cabin regatta for the first time, living the experience and also keeping a valuable result.
