WHAT THE FOOD EMERGENCY BILL IS ABOUT – Federal Al Día

The Executive’s initiative has half the approval of the Senate. Lautaro Azzalini, the official in charge of Dining Rooms, spoke about it with Radio Diputados.

Lautaro Azzalini, director of Canteens, dependent on the Ministry of Human Development, provided details of the food emergency bill that has half the approval of the Senate and will be discussed in Deputies.

“When we took office on December 10, we found that in the warehouse of the Ministry of Human Development, where the food modules are collected, we had around 20,000 modules, with an estimated annual consumption of 130,000, and without a tender in progress. “explained the official.

“Administrative processes have their delays and this delay, in an inflationary process like the current one, made it very difficult for us to be able to buy quickly to be able to alleviate any emergency,” he added.

Azzalini indicated that, within this framework, the government began to work on the emergency law to be able to accelerate the purchasing processes and thus resupply the warehouse, which today is “at zero.” Thus, the initiative was agreed upon with legislators from the ruling party and the opposition, which was approved in the Senate and will now be discussed by Deputies.

“We have 17,000 food modules on order. “A part will be attended to with an ongoing tender and the rest with the emergency law,” he said. “It is important to clarify that buying directly does not mean that it is opaque. We seek to maintain all State controls and to do so with the greatest possible transparency,” he added.

On the other hand, Azzalini highlighted that, as a consequence of the economic crisis, demand in school cafeterias has increased by 10%. (pressahcder)
