In the session of Deputies, Law 6667 was passed this Wednesday, declaring it a Historical Monument and part of the Cultural Heritage of the Province of Corrientes. to the “Virgen del Carmen” Parish, in the town of Sauceauthored by Senator Verónica Espíndola.

The author highlighted in the foundations that it is one of the “must-see sites for those who come to the community of Sauce; the one that is imposed in front of the main square, respecting the urban layout that most Argentine cities have. It exhibits a front of simple lines, with exposed bricks, with a side tower that culminates in a bell tower, and an image of the Virgin enthroned above the main door,” she explained.

It is worth quoting the history of said site: “In 1864 the neighbors requested the construction of a parish and a surveyor was summoned to prepare the urban layout, which he carried out in 1872. The name of the parish arose when Pedro Laflor donates an image of the Virgin of Carmen, as a result of a promise fulfilled on another occasion to rescue his daughter and a niece, captives of a group of aborigines. Since then the post began to be called the town of the Virgen del Carmen. On October 27, 1881, it was separated from Esquina and was called as it is known by the society, Sauce.”
