The Colombian cyclist Javier Jamaica was the victim of a robbery this Wednesday while he was training in the Alto del Verjón area, on the road that leads to Choachí.

The Team Medellín rider was beaten and stripped of his bicycle and cell phone, as was announced on social networks.

The incident occurred around three in the afternoon and, an hour later, Team Medellín confirmed that the bicycle had been recovered by the authorities. The cyclist is out of danger.

The Police also captured one of the people who participated in the theft. The assailants arrived in a vehicle, attacked him and took the bicycle in the vehicle, leaving the cyclist incommunicado and adrift.

After the events, Jamaica would have been helped by the driver of a truck who took him near Bogotá for treatment. At the moment, the cyclist has not published any statement regarding what happened.
