In a joint effort promoted by the Human Capital in Energy Roundtable of the Valparaíso region, two agreements have been signed to certify work skills of graduates of Professional Technical High Schools in Class D electrical installation. This project, promoted by the Energy seremis, Education and Work, ChileValora, Red Futuro Técnico Valparaíso and SENCE region of Valparaíso, aims to overcome the existing regional gap and enhance the knowledge and skills of professional technical students who graduate from said establishments.

The seremi of energy, Arife Mansur, expressed his satisfaction, indicating: “We are very happy because this activity is part of what we have been working on for several years, which is the Human Capital More Gender Roundtable, which is a policy of the Ministry of Energy that unites both the public sector, the private sector, academia and today we are also joining together with Education. The importance of this certification arises from the fact that students will obtain this class D certification from the Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels, which will allow students to enter the world of work in a more accessible way.

For its part, the seremi of Education, Romina Maragaño, highlighted the importance of this regional initiative, which will “generate different competencies and skills in students, not only to guarantee comprehensive learning, but also to improve their job opportunities. Graduates of the Professional Technical High Schools will have a competitive advantage by being able to demonstrate specific skills required by the industry, facilitating their transition to the world of work and opening doors to new employment opportunities, which will allow them to build solid careers in the field of electricity and related sectors”.

During the month of April, four important agreements were signed with the Technical High Schools: Industrial Superior of Valparaíso, Liceo Industrial de San Antonio, the Liceo América de Los Andes and the Liceo Ernesto Beltensen of Quillota, within the framework of this important project, who will be the official headquarters for the evaluation of the 120 students from 16 high schools in the Valparaíso region who are studying the specialty of electricity.

These ceremonies included the participation of the Energy Minister, Arife Mansur; the Seremi of Labor and Social Security, Miguel Toledo; Verónica Leyton, Professional Technical Coordinator of the Seremi of Education; Enzo Molina, territorial coordinator of the Valparaíso Technical Future Network; the Regional Director of Sence, Angélica Gutiérrez; the regional coordinator of ChileValora, Catalina Serrano; the mayor of Los Andes, Manuel Rivera; the Director of the Liceo América de los Andes, Walter Arancibia; Director of the San Antonio Industrial School, Carlos Oviedo; Director of the Valparaíso Higher Industrial School, Claudio Agurto and the TP Teacher of the electrical area, Marco Leyton, from the Quillora Industrial School Ernesto Bertelsen.

«Today we are going to give the opportunity to 120 students from the Professional Technical High School to get certified to work and go out into the world of work with a certification in the world of energy. “We are very happy and happy to incorporate these new students into the world of work,” said the Regional Director of SENCE, Angélica Gutiérrez.

For his part, the Seremi of Labor and Social Security, Miguel Toledo, highlighted: «This allows them to have better employability conditions, to enter the world of work with something that should be a personal cost, but that today we as public institutions assume. It also enriches the work from the point of view of the Ministry of Labor in what has to do with employment policies, it has to do with decent work policies. “When you have a labor certification you can have better job options.”

This program seeks to help graduates obtain the D license, an essential requirement to work in the electrical sector. By doing so, the program not only improves the employment prospects of graduates, but also contributes to the development of the regional electricity sector, recognizing the importance of technical and vocational training in economic and social development.

Enzo Molina, Territorial Coordinator of Futuro Técnico Valparaíso, highlighted the importance of this project for students specializing in electricity, pointing out that “This project has a great impact on the educational-labor trajectories of the students of the high schools in our network, by providing them with the opportunity to obtain the SEC Class D certification. This certification represents a significant milestone, as it will open the doors to a world of job opportunities in the electrical sector, allowing them to access better-paying jobs with career prospects. As a network, we are committed to continuing to generate alliances that allow us to provide real opportunities for professional development to young people in the region, thus contributing to the strengthening of the technical sector and the region.”

This regional milestone reflects the joint commitment of public and educational institutions to promote technical and professional development in the region, opening doors to new opportunities and contributing to the strengthening of the electrical and technical sector.

Claudio Agurto Cisterna, director of the Higher Industrial School of Valparaíso, pointed out: “What has happened is a very important milestone for the development of the community in general, given that it is very important that institutions can dialogue and generate a product, generate synergy that benefits all our students, who truly have a great possibility of developing social mobility, which is a dream for us as a community. Therefore, we are tremendously grateful for the management carried out by the different institutions and we hope that the fruits will begin to appear very soon.”
