A high level event
The Infantry Patrol Competitionorganized by the Land Operations Command (COT) and executed by 1st Armored Brigade Cuirassierswill evaluate the basic combat and warrior skills of the competitors, as well as leadership, physical and psychological resistance in high-demand tests according to international military standards. The event includes a 60-kilometer route through the desert and first aid tests, combat shooting, target recognition, day/night orientation, registration of locations, breaking contact, combat swimming, among others, and will conclude with a march on foot to the top of Morro de Arica, the end point of the event for each of the teams.
The winning patrol will be awarded and receive distinctions on June 7 at the ceremony that will commemorate the 144th anniversary of the Assault and Taking of Morro de Arica and Day of the Glories of the Chilean Infantry.
The Chilean Army team that obtains the best qualifications in the Lieutenant Colonel Juan José San Martín Infantry Patrol Competition will represent the institution at the event Cambrian Patrol of the British Army. This competition will take place in the month of October in the Cambrian Mountains in the Brecon area, Wales.
