Jesús Menéndez medal awarded to outstanding workers (+photos) – Escambray

In the context of the celebration of May First, International Workers’ Day, more than 60 people from Sancti Spiritus were awarded the Jesús Menéndez medal, awarded by the Central Workers of Cuba (CTC), for their valuable contributions in different spheres of the economic and social life of the province and the country.

The historic site of Paso de las Damas, where the hero of the three wars of independence, Major General Serafín Sánchez Valdivia, fell in combat, was the setting chosen to entertain those who carry out different tasks of transcendental importance for the nation.

With the presence of Deivy Pérez Martín, member of the Central Committee of the Party and first secretary in the province; Alexis Lorente Jiménez, governor of the territory, and Ekaterina Gowen Dickinson, general secretary of the CTC in Sancti Spíritus, the decoration was awarded to members of the Culture, Energy and Mines, Public Administration and Defense Civil unions.

At the meeting, the permanent validity of the legacy of the Apostle José Martí and the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, references for the labor movement on the island, was ratified.

The occasion was also propitious to summon the workers and their families to the massive May Day parade, which takes place in the middle of the organic process prior to the XXII Congress of the CTC, presided over by the motto For Cuba together we create.
