“Success my friends, we will continue working together.” In this way Roger Grevoul, founding president of Cuba Cooperation France (CubaCoop) expressed his satisfaction with the results of the Mission carried out between April 22 and 27 by the members of said Association and the French Development Agency (AFD)by signing the Memory Help of those fruitful days.
Grevoul praised the friendship that has been reciprocally professed and recognized the seriousness and professionalism with which they have worked during the almost two decades of joint work. “We have seen the work done so far and we have glimpsed future actions; “We not only identify them, but we are here, above all to look for new partners that we know exist in France and we will know how to look for them to join us in working with you,” she added.
Friends from Cuba and especially from Cienfuegos, held around thirty meetings in the five municipalities visited; opportunity in which they were able to appreciate, much more closely, the work of sectors such as Public Health, Education, Sports, Culture and the Cuban Workers’ Union (CTC); in addition to agriculture, sustainable local tourism and social and community services.
The presence of French friends stood out in several of the activities for the 205th anniversary of the founding of Cienfuegos; among them the Evocation of the city and the solemn session of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, the occasion on which the Order of Solidarity was delivered to Vincent Maurin, vice-mayor of Bordeaux and to Roger Grevoul himself.
Likewise, the management of CubaCoop exchanged with the highest leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the province, a moment that served to confirm the future projections of the joint work and recount the 18 years of uninterrupted bond. They also took part in the partial inauguration of the García de la Noceda Palace, as the new headquarters of the Office of the City Historian, and were presented with the portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment and the International Fair. “Exposur 2025”, which will have France as a guest country.
