The Government of the Province, through joint work carried out by the Ministries of Public Works and Justice and Security, will finalize in the coming days the opening of envelopes with the economic offers destined for the construction of a new control building for visits and the perimeter wall of the Rosario Penitentiary Complex.

The work, which is added to the four new pavilions already put out to tender, has a budget of around $790 million at official values ​​for the month of September 2023. The bidding event will take place on Friday, May 3 at 10 in the Rodolfo room Walsh from the Government headquarters in the city of Rosario.

It is worth remembering that, currently, the Rosario Penitentiary Complex has three prisons: one for men, one for women and a temporary warden, while the new prison, called Sub Unit 4, will be intended to house men.

Optimize the prison service

“This works plan is promoted by Governor Maximiliano Pullaro with the objective of reconfiguring the prison infrastructure with concrete actions, adding capacity with new pavilions for inmates, improving work in the different units, and addressing the problem of overpopulation,” he explained. the Minister of Public Works, Lisandro Enrico, and then completed: “These investments are a signal to all Santa Fe residents that we are working intensely on security, not only with specific actions against criminals but also promoting a greater approach with renovated prison buildings. ”.

In that sense, the Minister of Justice and Security, Pablo Cococcioni indicated: “We have developed a prison public works program that includes several constructions. The plan foresees the generation of more than 3,600 new prison places to transfer the 1,300 detainees in police stations that we currently have. But we are also working with a view to future growth, because as we speak the population deprived of liberty continues to increase and we must take a look in perspective, also seeking to decompress the penitentiary service and begin to reconfigure the penitentiary industries, with the installation of security devices. education, culture, recreation inside prisons to work with inmates in their social reintegration.”

Details of the work

The project prepared by the Provincial Directorate of Architecture and Engineering (Dipai) corresponds to the construction of a new control building for visits and the perimeter fence of the Rosario Penitentiary Complex, located on 27 de Febrero and Calle 1706, where detention units and warden.

Two simultaneous interventions will be carried out:

-New visitor control building: aims to guarantee security for the entry and exit of extra-institutional visitors by centralizing their movement in a single entrance. For the execution of the new building, it is necessary to install new liquefied petroleum gas tanks, connect them to the property’s gas installation and then dismantle the existing tanks, in order to guarantee the continuity of the complex’s service. This planned building includes an outdoor waiting area and restrooms for visitors, inside there is a people/package scanner circuit, search boxes and staff quarters.

-New security fence: in order to guarantee the security of the property, two types of fences will be built: the metal anti-climb fence and the concrete anti-climb fence made of precast panels.
