The outstanding doctor Silvia Carlota Jústiz Hernándezwho dedicated more than six decades to pediatric pulmonology, died in the city of Santiago de Cubaofficial sources reported this Saturday.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Silvia Carlota Jústiz Hernández, eminent pediatrician and teacher of generations, with more than 60 years dedicated entirely to the noble work of saving lives,” the provincial health directorate of Santiago de Cuba published on Facebook.

Several generations of doctors passed through the hands of this professional who stood out as a medical trainer for several decades, after graduating in Havana and moving to Santiago de Cuba.

At more than 90 years old, Dr. Jústiz dedicated her life to medicine, becoming one of the first to provide children’s medical care after January 1959.

He truly is a Legend of Medicine and particularly of the science and art of caring for the little ones.“said one of his students, doctor José Yaser Centray Soler.

Cuban baritone Ramón Calzadilla died at the age of 90in Cuernavaca, a city in central Mexico, the country where he lived, confirmed the Cubaescena digital portal.

The Morelense Center for the Arts regretted the news with a note in which they highlighted Calzadilla as an “outstanding teacher and musician who praised, with his experience and work, the training of generations of singers” at the institution.

Recently, The death of the Cuban singer-songwriter Ángel Quintero was mourned, a prominent exponent of trova on the island. The news was confirmed by a note from the official agency Latin Pressalthough no details were provided about the causes of his death.

Quintero died on April 19 at the age of 67, leaving an important legacy in Cuban music.
