In aerial images you can see the trench-type ditches dug by dissidents, where they placed sandbags to delimit the fort. At another point, around the aqueduct, another trench is being built.

These types of events are very serious because They put the lives and integrity of the inhabitants of the El Plateado district at risk.

According to the National Army, these trenches are used by the Carlos Patiño structure to attack troops while they take cover.

Being an area with a presence of civilian population, military forces cannot act.

On the other hand, videos in the possession of military intelligence reveal how from the urban area, the populated centers and from the homes themselves, the FARC dissidents install ramp tubes or crazy bombs, an artisanal system for launching improvised explosives, which they also place at risk the integrity of the inhabitants and violate International Humanitarian Law.

On the night of Saturday, April 27, 2024, There were four attacks on the Public Force with this type of explosive devices.

General Federico Mejía, specific command commander of Cauca, stated that “the aqueduct of the El Plateado district, which supplies water to more than 8,000 people, is being invaded by structures, as we are seeing, with trenches and sacks, and we see the approach of individuals who are positioning themselves in this sector, where there is a serious injury to International Humanitarian Law.”

For his part, Miller Hurtado, Secretary of the Government of Cauca, said that “the call is for these public assets not to be used. I believe that this war is moving to other sectors or attacking other assets. Sometimes it is believed that by attacking a public good they are attacking the Government, and no, they are attacking a community.”

The Army assures that military operations will not be suspended. In the last hours, two alleged dissidents, who would belong to the Jacobo Arenas structure, of the Central General Staff, in Guapi, Cauca, were killed.
