The works to improve the aqueducts of the municipalities of Altamira and Suaza are advancing. It is estimated that these works, which total more than $13.4 billion, almost all with contributions from the Departmental Government, will be delivered in the coming months.

A recent supervision carried out by Aguas del Huila in the south of the department confirmed that the improvement works on the municipal aqueducts of Suaza and Altamira are progressing on the right track.

This involves the expansion and modernization of the aqueduct in Suaza, which will benefit 9,225 inhabitants, and the optimization of the adduction line of the aqueduct system, phase II of Altamira, which in turn will benefit 4,778 residents of that town. In Altamira the coverage is rural and urban, while in Suaza, only urban.

As explained by Yesid Rojas Peña, Huila Water Engineer, supervisor of these contracts, in the follow-up visit to these works, it was verified that, in Altamira, the execution progresses by 40% and in Suaza, by 90%.

“We are satisfied with the development of the works because they are progressing quickly. These projects are built with royalty resources. We checked the progress of the works according to the conditions and technical specifications, thanks to the investments of the Government, which were 100% for the municipality of Altamira, and 85% for Suaza, we can say that soon these communities in the south of Huila, They will have greater quantity and better quality of water,” he added.

María Camila Yusty, Manager of Public Companies of Altamira, who also made the tour of the works, highlighted their importance in improving the quality of life of Altamira residents: “today we are here reviewing the works of optimization of the aqueduct of the municipality of Altamira, phase 2, in the company of the construction contractor, and Aguas del Huila. We are a municipality that has always had shortcomings due to the aqueduct, but thanks to God and the Government of Huila, this project benefits 4,700 inhabitants of the rural and urban areas of our municipality and we will have more water and better quality “, he claimed.

Another of the community actors who confirmed the good progress of the works in the municipality of Suaza is Edgar Orlando Almario, manager of the town’s Public Services Company. “We made a work committee, with the presence of the auditor, the contractor engineers and Aguas del Huila as supervisor, to examine each of the advances we have made…we reached 100% of the adduction pipeline, a 99% of the storage tank, which optimizes 4 times more, and a new parallel drinking water treatment plant is being built, to optimize and expand the treated flow. This benefits the entire community, including some sectors that were greatly affected by the scarce water supply,” said the official.
