Priest Darío Valencia Uribe was last seen on April 25 in Pereira. The religious man’s truck was located, but there are no traces of him. Authorities have carried out operations in surrounding municipalities trying to find out what happened to him.

The parish priest, 59 years old, went to a bakery in the morning hours of that day. From the images revealed by local media, he was accompanied by his mother. They were inside the establishment from 8:55 am to 9:14 am.

Valencia was wearing a red shirt, dark pants and a small briefcase on his chest. That was the last contact he had with his mother.

According to the information that has been known, He would have an appointment hours later, apparently, to finalize the sale of his truck.; Then he would return to have lunch with another priest and preside over the afternoon mass at the Mary Help of Christians Church in the Turin neighborhood.

By not attending both commitments, relatives and the Diocese of Pereira raised alarm bells.

“The father has disappeared. All authorities know and are in the search process. We are very sad. There is still no idea or any certainty of what happened to him, his life and his health. We are waiting for everything to come to an end. happy term and that the father is alive,” said Monsignor Rigoberto Corredor Bermúdez, Bishop of Pereira.

Priest’s truck appeared in another municipality

The priest’s vehicle was found in the municipality of Viterbo, Caldas, on Friday, April 26. Authorities are inspecting it to collect elements that may provide clues to the missing person.

The Fire Departments of Risaralda, Viterbo, Belalcázar and Anserma carried out an operation this Saturday to try to locate him. “This search is being carried out with unmanned aircraft, in total there are 10 units on the site, sector via Viterbo,” they noted.

For now, there is no information on his whereabouts. The Mayor’s Office of Pereira assured that the Police and Prosecutor’s Office carry out their investigative work: “We must join forces so that he can soon return to his church alongside his parishioners and his loved ones.”

The Diocese held a Eucharist this April 27 “for the life and soon return of the father”, with the attendance of dozens of parishioners.
