As part of the extensive program of activities to celebrate May 1, the Cuban Workers’ Union (CTC) in the province of Cienfuegos carried out voluntary work in the Melones labor collective, belonging to the Agroindustrial Sugar Company “Elpidio Gómez Guzmán” of the municipality of Palmira.

Representatives of the different unions in the province and groups that hold the National Vanguard status planted around six hectares of sugarcane on the eve of International Workers’ Day.

According to Maité Yera Santana, general secretary of the CTC in Cienfuegos, “there have been various mobilizations throughout the territory towards productive and sanitation work to commemorate the anniversary.

“We call on the entire proletariat of the Pearl of the South to parade together this May Day in the event square, to together ratify our revolutionary and socialist commitment,” Yera Santana concluded.

The productive activity was attended by Armando Carranza Valladares, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the province and Yolexis Rodríguez Armada, acting governor of the southern territory, along with other leaders of political and mass organizations.
