Ceremony that explained what was developed in 2023, was held at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the University of Valparaíso and had a positive reception from the community.

With special emphasis on the governance of the territory, the work to support the communities and the investment that is being made in infrastructure, the Local Public Education Service of Valparaíso presented its Public Account, 2023 management, this Thursday.

Ceremony that was led by Rodrigo Riffo, Executive Director (s), who replaced Daslav Mihovilovic in the presentation, who is on the Island of Juan Fernández to announce, on the ground, the news of the project that will determine the long-awaited reconstruction of that school after the effects caused by the 2010 earthquake.

Summary of what was done in the year in which the consolidation that is being done of the processes after the start of SLEP functions in 2021 was greatly valued.

This is how Riffo expressed it: “For me it was very pleasant to see many people, people who one understands are committed to this public education project. Delivering numbers and results that denote SLEP’s effort is always gratifying. I am very happy, I think it was a good Public account; Obviously there are always things to improve, but I feel that we accomplished it in a very good way, especially because the work was done thanks to the immense team that is SLEP.”

One of the points broken down in the meeting was the large amount of support that the Technical Pedagogical Support team was able to develop, deploying in the territory, focused on various areas such as school coexistence, teacher professional development, among others.

“As part of the Steering Committee, representing the citizen mayor’s office, this type of Public Account activities is essential for us, because the actions that are being carried out are transparently shown and allow us to evaluate how this year 2024 will develop, we are honored to have participated in this activity, there are many students who participated, teachers, therefore it is also a meeting space for educational communities, it was a public account, clear with a lot of data, especially in the field of investment which is something very felt by the educational establishments, so I am very grateful for the invitation, and of course always value any instance that contributes to the public transparency of the services that depend on the State,” explained Carla Meyer, Director of Community Development of the Municipality of Valparaíso and member of the Steering Committee.

“It seems very important to me to be able to visualize that progress has actually been made in the various instances that the Local Service proposes to us, with respect to both administrative and financial management, in what has been done in the educational establishments, how it has gone. advancing in the execution of the budget in the items where it is established, it is also important that there are projections for 2024 and it is also expected that the budget for the requirements of the establishments will be achieved. So it seems like a very good public account to me and we hope to see the complete document on the website later,” explained María Alejandra Torres, Provincial Head of Education of Valparaíso.

In this view, María Loreto Iturrieta, director of the Eleuterio Ramírez School, expressed that “we must recognize that we have made progress, there are hard data that seem to prove it, but continuous improvement challenges us to make progressive progress and we have enough to do.” walk. We are 66 establishments that SLEP must take care of, therefore, each community is individual, but the most important thing is that I see enthusiasm, I see the desire to want to do things.”

Enthusiasm that has been exhibited in the territory. Key, in this case, was the work of the Territorial Participation and Linkage Unit in the help provided for the consolidation of the Centers for Mothers, Fathers and Guardians, the creation of emergency committees; as well as the formation of student leadership and the election of the Local Public Education Council, a vital body for community participation.

Leader in this matter is the president of this organization and Insuco teacher, Eduardo Vargas, who also expressed his opinion on the journey of the Service: “The issue of lifting the SLEP already greatly changes what we have been experiencing. I was part of the Education Corporation, I lived through that system and progress is being seen. It will be interesting to see the details of the Public Account, but let’s hope that the system is consolidated and freed from any vice.”

Regarding the governance of the territory, he reflected that “it is always necessary to open spaces for democratic participation. And we have to expose the problems so that the voices of those of us who are participants in the teaching-learning process and those of us who make up the educational communities reach them, because it is the best diagnosis that can be had, of those who are in the day-to-day life.

For her part, Mía Matus, spokesperson for the CCEE of the Liceo Eduardo de la Barra and representative of the students in the Local Council, assured that “these activities are good because what the Local Council does, for example, is transparent. There is still a lot of progress to be made, but we trust in public education and the progress it may make.”

From the infrastructure, the Account highlighted the conservation projects that have radically improved schools such as Cirujano Videla, in Placeres, or Carabinero Pedro Cariaga, in Playa Ancha. Allocating in 2023 – added to what had already been invested the previous year – $1,665 million pesos. For this year, the renovation of spaces in two other communities was carried out: Escuela Juan de Saavedra and Villa Berlin, which will require an investment, so far, of $1,875 million.

At the People Management level, clear progress was seen in the appointment of directors by ADP, better management of replacements, digitalization of processes, assisted retirement program, among others.
