An intense tour of Spain, with future performances also in Portugal, stands out today at the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), which thus celebrates International Dance Day.

In a statement sent to Prensa Latina, the prima ballerina and director of the BNC, Viengsay Valdés, noted that the date is significant for all actors and admirers of this discipline.

Established in 1985 by UNESCO in honor of the French dancer Jean-Georges Noverre, considered the creator of modern ballet, the day is also the occasion for great performances in Spain, especially flamenco.

“The best way to celebrate this day is, precisely, doing what we like most: dancing, and these days, we are doing it for one of our most loyal audiences, the Spanish,” commented Valdés.

“These are days of many trips, classes, rehearsals and performances, but also of many satisfactions, because each success of the National Ballet of Cuba is a triumph of Cuban culture. And that makes us proud,” he highlighted.

The head of the BNC took advantage of the occasion to congratulate dancers, choreographers, teachers, rehearsals, technicians, musicians, directors, designers, students, makeup artists, researchers and scholars.

“To all those who are linked to the dance event, to all those who do not dance, but feel it in their hearts, to those who give their contribution and make it possible for dance to be one of the most beautiful and important artistic manifestations of humanity. “, argument.

The BNC will perform in the next few days in Terrasa, San Cugat and Manresa, in Catalonia, and then move to Lisbon, where it will perform two performances on May 10 and 11, before returning to Spain.

The ballets Don Quixote and Giselle took center stage at the BNC, which also offered interactive and educational meetings with the public and on International Book Day.
