After the election of Javier Milei, the possibility that the clubs of the argentine soccer go from Civil Associations to Sports Joint Stock Companies It has become quite a topic. In the same institutions there are divided opinions, but one who spoke loudly was the president of Argentinos Juniors.

In dialogue with TyC Sports, Cristián Malaspina referred to what the implementation of Public Limited Companies would imply and used a not so distant example: that of Chile, where these were imposed in 2005. The leader pointed to the level of the Chilean team in the recent years to justify their refusal.

“Ask Chile how the Chilean team is doing after the Public Limited Companies. You see? Let’s analyze everything. Here it is easy,” he told Argentine television. He did not mention, however, the two Copa América trophies that Chile won against Argentina in 2015 and 2016.

“They taught me that only one steak fits on a plate. So if they want to do business here and eat more, it’s going to go wrong. Does it have to be done well? Yes, sure, but if you do things wrong, the system itself expels you,” Malaspina later argued.

The president of Argentinos Juniors then said that “the sports leader is the most punished there is of all the activities I have. We take exams every Sunday. You are obliged to do things well, because football shows with this verse from Public Limited Companies that the leader who does things wrong goes home.”

“Don’t come to me and talk to me about Public Limited Companies, that’s what clubs are. You have to do things well, with honesty, with management, running a club like a company, but with people from within. Let’s stop breaking the balls, let’s defend our industry,” he concluded.
