According to Omar Burgoa on FM El Chubut, the layoffs appear to be motivated by political reasons, since the notifications arrived without explanation regarding the employees’ performance. In his case – and in that of other colleagues – the notification was received via email, without prior notice or justification.

Among those fired, in addition to the two-time mayor of 28 de Julio (2011-19), is Natalia Ravarotto, who was president of the Provincial Congress of the Justicialist Party.

“I believe that it is in line with the public policy that the Milei government is carrying out in all the provinces, with the different public organizations trying to carry out an ideological cleansing,” said Burgoa.

These changes in PAMI staff have generated controversy, as the decision to fire employees with years of experience and commitment to the institution is questioned. In the case of Burgoa, who joined as a permanent employee in 2022, he highlighted his “dedication and close contact with the community” during his two years in office.

In addition to Gaiman, the layoffs have affected employees in other cities such as Comodoro Rivadavia, Rawson, Lago Puelo, Trelew and Puerto Madryn. In total, at least eight employees were left without work.

“They have just put people in different organizations and they are going to put their people in. It is not that they are shrinking the State to say that we are saving money,” he explained and added: “It is understandable that people enter who have to enter as someone retires, But it seems to me that we have to evaluate the performance of the agents and their performance in front of people.”

“We are fired without any type of notice. I estimate that we will receive some type of telegram or some more serious communication. They have fired us by email,” Burgoa concluded.

On the other hand, the recent appointments at PAMI were revealed, among which the arrival of Marcela Roberts as the new head of the organization in Trelew stands out. She herself was a councilor of the city of the valley during the first administration of Adrián Maderna.
