The Jujuy Legislature issued Resolution No. 64, approved unanimously by all legislative blocks. The resolution seeks to “guarantee that in the package of fiscal modifications of the new bill presented by the National Executive in the National Congress, matters related to tobacco production are incorporated in fiscal matters to guarantee the economic stability of the tobacco sector and the work of those people who depend on it,” according to the text of the resolution.

Concern for the future of the sector

The resolution is based on the “growing concern” of the Jujuy tobacco sector regarding the “different positions and turns” that have been taking place in reference to the tobacco industry. In this sense, The resolution highlights that this activity is an “engine that generates important economic activity in our province, both due to labor and the important income generated by the export of tobacco.”as the document states.

The Jujuy Legislature, through Resolution No. 64, requested the Jujuy national legislators to “carry out the steps to guarantee” the inclusion of fiscal support measures for tobacco production in the new bill presented by the Executive. National.

“The tobacco industry represents a fundamental sector for the economy of Jujuy.
