The visual artist from Cienfuegos, Yoel de la Paz López, inaugurated the personal exhibition Moments of my cityin honor of the 205th Anniversary of the former Fernandina de Jagua colony.

For approximately two months, the exhibition of sixteen photographs will be exhibited at the Leblanc Palace in La Perla del Sur, under the auspices of the Office of the City Conservator, the 40&41 Restaurant, Havana Club, the Provincial Council of the Plastic Arts and the Center Provincial of the Visual Arts.

“I have wanted to explore the architecture, the people, the knowledge and material values of our Cienfuegos,” said De la Paz.

“Moments of my city” reveals iconic buildings that refer to the city environment, but also shows the luminosity of seaside sunsets, the saturation of color in nature and the transparency of the atmosphere, according to researcher and pedagogue Massiel Delgado Cabrera.

The exhibition is also a record of spectacular and dangerous events such as the waterspout seen in October 2021 over Jagua Bay and reveals the author’s hedonistic vocation, without giving up the delight of daring compositions.

“I thank my friend Óscar Rodríguez for encouraging me to exhibit on this occasion and above all to Omar García Valenti, a reference in Cienfuegos Photography and one of my mentors.”

The curatorship was carried out by the author himself and García Valenti. Meanwhile, the assembly added Yoel’s father, José de la Paz Texier, José Basulto Caballero and Julio César.

What are you working on at the moment?

”At this moment I belong to a creative group, a group of friends passionate about photography and audiovisuals that capture nature in all its splendor and we address the conservation of endangered species. In addition, I want to return to painting, I am preparing my space in the Artists’ Workshop,” De la Paz concluded.
