Within the framework of the winter campaign and with the aim of expanding coverage against influenza and protecting the community from becoming seriously ill, the Valparaíso-San Antonio Health Service calls for vaccination against this virus, so as not to regret complications due to because this disease can cause death.

Vaccination seeks to prevent mortality in target groups of the population, such as people over 60 years of age, people with chronic diseases from 11 to 59 years of age, pregnant women and girls and boys from 6 months to 5th grade.

The SSVSA strategies to promote vaccination range from extending hours at the Cesfam Jean and Marie Thierry until 6:00 p.m. and setting up a vaccination point at the SSVSA SAR, which is in the Valparaíso plan: street Colon with Rodríguez corner, which will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The director of the Valparaíso-San Antonio Health Service Cristián Gálvez in the framework of the winter 2024 campaign: “We are making an intense promotion to the entire population of Valparaíso so that they come on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm: 00 a.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. so that we can together provide vaccination coverage. Therefore, this year we are deploying throughout the territory and we are calling on the entire population to attend the vaccination centers and the idea is that together we protect ourselves in a better way.”

For her part, Graciela Astudillo Bianchi, head(s) of primary care at the SSVSA, explained that: it is an extramural vaccination strategy: “Especially on weekends when people have nowhere to go and we have noticed that there is more availability of time to be able to approach a vaccination point. However, not only are strategies being generated in the Valparaíso-San Antonio Health Service devices with this vaccination in the SAR of Valparaíso, but also in the communes in which we have prepared a document and a calendar, in which they have their extramural vaccination on the weekend, encouraging the network to provide these spaces to facilitate those at risk groups so that they can be vaccinated without time obstacles, which is what happens during the week when people work or study.” . .

Astudillo emphasizes that: “The importance of getting vaccinated is individual and social. On the one hand, we want to emphasize that the World Health Organization recommends vaccination as the most effective way to prevent diseases and particularly the severity that influenza can cause. I want to remember that this disease in its severe cases with complications can cause death. Therefore, the call is for older people and all risk groups to come and get vaccinated because vaccines are 100% safe, we have been using them for 60 years in the world and we have eradicated diseases thanks to vaccination.”
