With Fernanda Araneda as champion, Chile ends its participation in the South American Youth Santiago 2024 with nine medals

Intense weeks of top-level young table tennis came to an end this Sunday, April 28. After the passage of WTT Youth Contender Santiago 2024for seven days in a row we lived the South American Children-Youth Santiago 2024 the Contact Sports Center of the National Stadiumwhich was developed with notable participation of national players.

The last day of competition for the Chilean tennis player Fernanda Araneda won the gold medal in the U-19 ladies’ singles category, after defeating the Brazilian Victoria Strassburger in the final by a score of 4-2.

The U-15 ladies’ singles final also featured a Chilean, Catalina Ramirezwho took second place in the tournament after repeating last week’s WTT Youth Contender final against Brazilian Mahayla Sardá.

The women’s and men’s teams also won silver medals in the under-19 category. The men’s team made up of Alvaro Fuentes, Benjamin Suarez, Jaime Lama and Javier Lopez he took second place in his final against the Brazilian team. Same final that the women’s team played Fernanda Araneda, Romina Barrientos, Macarena Reyes and Martina Rios.

The U-15 ladies team did the same, advancing to the semifinal of the tournament, in which the Chileans won the bronze medal. Catalina Ramirez, Florencia Perez, Francisca Paredes and Ignacia Jimenez.

In the doubles category, the couple made up of Alvaro Fuentes and Benjamin Suarez He won the bronze, after losing in the semifinal against the duo that would ultimately become the champion, the Venezuelans César Castillo and Carlos Ríos. Likewise, in the under-15 category, the pairing of Catalina Ramirez and Florencia Pérez took third place.

In mixed doubles, the two Chilean pairs, Jaime Lama and Romina Barrientos next to Alvaro Fuentes and Fernanda Aranedawon bronze in the under-19 category after advancing to the South American semifinals.
