In dialogue with Multiplataforma Fenix, the general secretary of the Federation of Post Office Workers and Employees, Víctor Aballay confirmed the dismissal of four workers from the Argentine Post Office in La Rioja.

“The company is on the privatization grid, and we thought we had time to put together work strategies, but surprisingly on Friday, floods of telegrams appeared throughout the country,” he commented.

In the province, there are three workers from Capital and one from the interior, all with seniority ranging from 3 to 23 years of service. The first is about an Olta delivery man who had recently joined.

Regarding the reasons for the dismissal, the only explanation was that “due to restructuring and reorganization, their services were dispensed with.”

In a meeting with national Human Resources personnel, Aballay said that La Rioja was already with tight staffing, and “I was surprised that they had reports from the interior branches claiming that they were not profitable,” he said.

In the province, there are around 128 workers, 50% from Capital and the rest distributed in the interior.

“Currently they are not the volumes that we knew how to handle a long time ago, there was a relapse,” he commented, adding that they were also harmed by the growth of Mercado Libre. Since in the interior of the country the Argentine Postal Service was previously used, but the company implemented its own distribution system.

Concluding, the secretary of the union said that they announced that in the first week of May workers will be able to more easily access voluntary retirement, with an increase in payments that could exceed 100% in special cases.

“The consultation and treatment was going to be direct between the worker and the company without intermediating with a union organization. But if it is not the number of people they expect to leave, the telegrams will return,” he warned.

Today it is estimated that the worker could receive more than 30 million pesos if he opts for voluntary retirement.
