As is traditional, every May 1st the different unions in the country carry out the March in commemoration of International Workers Day. This year the marches in Colombia They will have a new ingredient.

This is the call made by the National governmentheaded by the president Gustavo Petroin order for Colombians to take to the streets to support the head of state.

This day has two purposes: the first is naturally the commemoration of International Labor Day and it is the day of the working class and it is a commemoration that extends year after year and that is why we are accompanying the union movement. The second purpose is a message of support for the reforms of the government of President Gustavo Petro, which we believe interpret the needs of Colombians and for that reason we are inviting in this call to express ourselves in favor of the national commitment,” he said. On this occasion, the president Gustavo Petro Urrego is promoting this mobilization, which for many sectors is done in response to the march held last Sunday, April 21, in which thousands of Colombians came out to protest the reforms and measures of the National government.

“There are people who have expressed that they join the March in response to the recent mobilization of opposition groups and that we point out that it is also a respectable march, which was quite telling and that led to a response from the Government to meet with the upper sectors National government to make decisions that we hope will soon be announced by the president Gustavo Petro“added Suárez Vacca.

For its part, the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT) in Boyacápoint out that 3,000 people are expected to participate in this march.

“The appointment is in Sogamouswhere we will have Río Chiquito as a meeting point and we will take 11th Street to exit to Carrera 11 and finish at Parque de la Villa. We hope to have the participation of some 3,000 fellow workers from the private and public part affiliated with our union organization, from both Acerías Paz de Río, the industrial part, teachers, workers from the Mayor’s Office of Duitama and Sogamoso, among others,” he stated. In the city of Tunja There will be two concentration points, the first will be in the UPTCin which the marchers will move along Avenida Norte and the second point will be in front of the La Independencia stadium to arrive at the Las Nieves square.
